Waldorf Astoria New York reopened on July 15, 2025, after closing in 2017 for a restoration. The hotel's own FAQ gives that date. Hilton's December 2024 release had expected a spring 2025 opening, and its July 2025 release called the reopening an opening season, with the event spaces due back on September 1. Guests could book stays from that day.
The hotel stands at 301 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, with a private porte-cochère at 101 E. 49th Street. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill led the restoration, which preserved the original 1931 design in collaboration with the Landmarks Preservation Commission, and Pierre-Yves Rochon designed the hotel interiors. The building went from 1,400 rooms to 375 hotel guest rooms and 372 residences. The majority of the guest rooms exceed 570 square feet, and each has a bespoke bar.
Lex Yard, Chef Michael Anthony's 220-seat American brasserie, is the signature restaurant. Peacock Alley, which links Park Avenue, Lexington Avenue and the Library Lounge, holds the Waldorf Astoria Clock, made in London for the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, and Cole Porter's Steinway piano. Yoshoku serves a kaiseki-inspired menu beside the Wheel of Life mosaic. The hotel has 43,000 square feet of event space, including the Grand Ballroom, and the Guerlain Wellness Spa. It has no pool.
“Waldorf Astoria New York officially reopened its doors on July 15, 2025, following a comprehensive multi-year restoration”
